About Us
The Cardigan Community Centre is a local charity established in 1990 by residents and councillors. Since then, we have consistently supported local organizations, groups, and individuals, providing a safe and welcoming space for community projects and gatherings. We serve people of all ages and backgrounds, offering volunteer opportunities for those who want to get involved.

Our team includes a General Manager, a small group of paid staff, a board of trustees, volunteers from the Friends of the Centre, and many others who help organize and run various projects. Our funding comes from rental income from room hire, the generous support of local/national donors and grants.

Testimonials
"
During coronavirius lockdowns I got involved with the Cardigan Community Centre delivering fresh fruit to isolated vulnerable people in Hyde Park area every fortnight. I got to know some of them quite well and learnt about the difficulties they were experiencing confined alone at home.
I took advantage of the governments allowance for daily outdoor exercise and explored the area with short walks from my home. I had alot of enjoyment from exploring the architecture, geography and history of my local environment and some wonderful green spaces.
As lockdown restrictions were eased I introduced the walks to the new Elders Connect group where we published them in a book called "Short Circular Walks from the Cardigan Community Centre" in conjunction with Leeds Culture 2023. The book creates a sense of belonging that connects you to the community through its history and heritage.

I have a lot of spare time in the week where I have been volunteering at the Cardigan Community Centre since the summer. I have been out and about giving fresh fruit during the pandemic to the elderly people in isolation. I really enjoy this role as it gives me the opportunity to meet up with alot people from the community.

I have been enjoying coming into the centre to take part of the youth club organised by the team from the centre. The sessions help with social skills and the people there help me with my CV, showed me how to sign up for linkdin and provide me with support and confidence.
